Andrew Chan – Music Director and Conductor – Life Orchestra

Holder of the F.T.C.L., L.R.S.M., and L.T.C.L. Diplomas in Violin Performance, Andrew Chan was formerly a First Violinist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. A scholarship recipient in violin performance, he studied with Harrison Ryker, Ben Cruft and Harry Curby in Australia . He was concertmaster with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Sinfonia, where he made recordings and performed as soloist in violin concertos.

An experienced violin teacher, Andrew Chan was also a Lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), the Chinese University of Hong Kong , and the Hong Kong Institute of Education. He conducted the Symphony Orchestras & String Orchestras of both St. Stephen’s College and St. Paul ‘s Co-educational College. He was also a frequent guest speaker for the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Chinese University on musical topics.

Since he moved to USA in 1996, Andrew has been busy teaching and performing. He has given several solo recitals in California, the most recent one being July 2002 performing in a Violin-Piano Duo. Andrew also performed in a violin solo concert sponsored by the Learners Chorus in Hong Kong December, 2002. Andrew is currently teaching violin in the South Bay . His latest appointment is the Music Director of Apoco Ensemble in 2003.

While he was in training in Sydney, Australia Andrew received Christ and attended the Sydney Chinese Presbyterian Church. After he returned to Hong Kong , he served faithfully at The Wanchai Church of the Chinese Christian Church as the Music Director of the Praise Ensemble. He also played for the Hong Kong Christian Orchestra, which gave a lot of musical offerings and ministered to many churches in Hong Kong . Andrew was appointed Music Director of the Silicon Valley Alliance Church Life Orchestra in 1999.

Christine Au – Conductor – Junior Life Orchestra

Christine Au started to play violin at the age of six. She received her Bachelor Degree in Music Education and Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University. She has been teaching K to G12 music since 2006. Christine is currently a music teacher at Chinese Christian School and the director of the String Orchestras.
